This dashboard was created to track and display KPIs (a measurable value that demonstrates how effectively a company is achieving key business objectives.) Allowing the company to be transparent to their employees was a driving factor in the development of this dashboard
The ideation and collection phase
This initial phase of the project was pretty fun. I operated as the main data collection individual that worked with various departments to really know what data was important and the hierarchy of that information. It ended up being a couple of months between wire-framing and persona building to really make sure that we build this tool correctly.
The building and coding phase
After all that data collection and sketching was done it was important to build this software as a tool that could grow and adapt with the company. I worked on everything from the back-end to the front-end focusing on the UI and functionality.
It ended up taking the company by storm. From the very top executives to the everyday employee, everyone loved to see the company's numbers and how their department was performing measuring KPI's. It also showed a sense of open-ness from the executive team as they were willing to share that information like "employee turnover rate" to everyone within the company.
It altered the dynamic of the company for the better and I was thrilled to be a part of it.
